An introduction to touring

For some reason I have yet to have gone on many GTs since I got my car. There was one long trip up to Gunma/Saitama which I made with 3 friends (all in my car) back in 2015 I think it was.. Where the main goal was go see Sakura with a detour to Mt. Akagi (yes that Mt. akagi of the Takahashi Brothers. I will return there soon). Apart from that haven't really gone far with my car.

Those who follow Ale's blog will see he has been doing some amount of touring. Earlier last month he invited me on one great spot on the Izu peninsular, the village of Heda in Shizuoka https://goo.gl/maps/REystwHQet19kWH97 .

After a quick coffee stop at Hakone

There is currently display to announce the launch of Porsche Classic Japan. The official global factory backed vintage porsche restoration service now also available in Japan.

We then headed South down towards Heda. The roads there were still abit salty, other than that weather was perfect.

Traffic was not ideal haha.

The roads down the Heda were good fun, more lower speed and twisty than Hakone, not to mention steeper. It did make apparent how worn my bushings are though. Also it made me consider perhaps revising my current spring rate. Perhaps a future project..

Heda is situated on the Western coast of the Izu Pennisular in Shizuoka Prefecture. It is a small sleepy fishing village.

It really is a luxury to be able to park where one wants to.

A nice escape from Tokyo they even have a hostel by the warf where we parked.

Right behind the afore mentioned hostel was an abandoned hotel. A very real reality check on the situation of Japan's population decline, especially outside of the major cities.

Heda is famous for it's crab. So we went for lunch.

After suffering from a food coma we went for a walk to walk it off and explore the rest of the village.

Oh and did I mention you can see Mt. Fuji from the bay with some early sakura.

The spit of land you can see in the distance is the cove which forms the bay. It has a shrine on it to protect the bay and fishermen. Decided to walk over to check it out.

On the outer side of the cove you get a nice view of the rest of Shizuoka Prefecture.

First glimpse of the shrine

The inner side of the cove with it's own beach.

This is the picture of the trip

On the way back to the warf.. An old mine?

As you can see there are alot of crag restaurants to choose from. (Hayabusa rider out touring too)

After a coffee at the previosuly mentioned hostel which has a downstairs cafe to finish off the trip we headed up to a lookout point where you get a view of the whole bay.

This trip really helped lend perspective. How we need to appreciate the simple things in life and have something we get up in the morning for.

And with that and the impending traffice situationbrewing for the trip back we headed back.

The traffic got much worse after this..
